My story goes back to January of this year in Guildford where a baby Rainbow Lorikeet was entangled in fish netting in a tree. I was distressed when I saw this poor bird in pain struggling to untangle its self. I had to act fast. From Friday to Monday, I was ringing up organisations and some came to help out but the tree was too high for their ladder to reach. But I did not give up and I rang RSPCA, and they sent Aaron Purcell, a special constable inspector from the RSPCA and after a long struggle using a contraption from my window to reach the tree, he managed to cut the fish netting and the bird flew down. We raced down and caught it as the fish netting had to be removed properly from its body. You may be wondering how the baby Rainbow Lorikeet from Friday to Monday could survive while being entangled in fish netting during a humid summer. We had allies on our side. These allies were Rainbow Lorikeets and probably were the family of the baby Rainbow Lorikeet. They were constantly at its side feeding it, giving support, company and trying to untangle the baby Lorikeet from the fish netting with their beaks. Living in Guildford is full of surprises and this event made a significant and lasting mark in my life that one cannot give up even when people say it is impossible to save a bird and with the teamwork of Rainbow Lorikeets and RSPCA, the baby Lorikeet was rescued and after a check up by the Vet, much care by RSPCA, the baby bird was returned safely back to Guildford.
