Sometimes you can't appreciate what you have until you're away from it . All my life I've been desperate to get out of Australia. When I went overseas for the first time this year, I soon realized how good we have it.

'The Real Beach' is about a boy who meets a girl overseas. She wants to know all about Australia and all about the people. When she asks the boy to define what makes an Australian an Australian, he tells her the first things that come into his head. Later, when he's back home, he rethinks his initial response and realizes just how lucky he is to live here.
