This film attempts to portray the Australian sense of Optimism. Even when the situation doesn't look great and "the chips are down" we still have the conviction that things will be "alright mate!". We are not merely stoics, but rather we refuse to let life's troubles get us down.
Fortunately for most of us, things are holding up better than they appear to be for poor Greg, although I'm sure we can all relate to his circumstances in one way or another. In my opinion, it is the ability to keep our woes and defeats in context that makes Australians the most easy going and uplifting people in the world.
I have tried to capture the colloquial language and knock-about sense of humor that make us unique in the English speaking world. The suburban land-scape, while simple in comparison to our spectacular landmarks, has a warmth and homeliness to it.
The (now internationally famous) Dunlop Volleys, the Toyota Hilux and the towering power lines in our back yard, I felt, had to be included.
