Coloured chalk is handed to children lining the streets in wait for the colourful Fremantle Festival parade. This is a once a year opportunity for the young and young at heart to make their mark on the traffic free zone streets. For an hour or so, messages, statements and art works are written or drawn on the asphalt. While others around her were in a buzz to get many marks on the streets, the young girl pictured was intent on doing her best work and was oblivious to the flurry around her. It was her determined expression that caught my eye. This photo is a tribute to all who are determined to make their very best marks.
