The Blue Mountains to me capture the essence of Eastern Australia, with the striking sandstone structures recalling a primordial sea bed and revealing such an ancient land. The air-borne eucalyptus oil perfumes the air and provides the characteristic blue hue. The sense of space and freedom entices me to get out and about and enjoy the wonderful walking trails and scenic drives. This particular image was taken in mid-winter, with a shaft of sun kissing the three sisters and a cloak of cloud through the valleys adding a sense of movement and accentuating the feeling of space and extended time.
