My boyfriend and I drove 2,500 kms from Sydney to the Birdsville Races, camping all the way there and back. Sometimes we would drive for many hundreds of kilometres and not come across any other vehicles. This was typical of what we encountered from time to time - cattle, camels, emus and dingoes (not all at once !).
