No, I think we are just Patriotic in the wrong ways. We should defend our democracy more and our sport less. Shouting doesnt show pride

Loudmouth bogans defending beer drinking I do think are being too patriotic. Actually they are just being embarrassing.

Absolutely not. The average Australian never takes things too seriously. We are patriotic but always with a bit of humour and sarcasm in it.

Nope - I think we are not patriotic enough! we come from a country which believes life should be fun lets share that with the world

No, but we're slightly schizophrenic about it. We feel pride at our sporting prowess & shame for our treatment of Aboriginal Australians.

We're made and taught to be true to white English colonial propaganda. Our patriotism is ignorant of our past.

Some people use patriotism to justify racism and bigotry. I'm proud to be Australian, but I'm not proud of those who discriminate.

We should be patriotic without being nationalistic, mindlessly jingoistic, and recognise the mixed cultural heritage of all Australians.

No not at all, nationalistic maybe but not patriotic. I dont think either are helpful or healthy

Yes. What is an "Australian" anyway? If you don't fit in, should you be bullied and ostracized like an unpopoular kid in highschool?

It depends on how your view patriotism. Never met a kid in high school who was proud to sing our National Anthem.

No, I think far too many of us aren't patriotic and care more about where their parents came from rather than the life they are living now

I hope most Ozzies realize how lucky we are to live in this place at this time. Some think that nationalism is patriotism...it aint!

Celebrating Invasion day, 26 January rather then when Australia became a nation in 1 January 1901 does not make one a patriotic AUSTRALIAN.

It verges very closely as racism through exclusiveness. We run the risk of brash, out-dated un-Australian imagery. We're more laid back.

Not enough compared to say Canadians. We need to have a more committed rallying point. We could start with putting our flag everywhere.

Not enough, the need to always be 'politically correct' has distanced people from the real issues, especially in regard to national identity

Compared to America we are not very patriotic. However, australians are patriotic but not to the point were it is getting worrying.

There are lot of people in Australia who are not patriotic at all to Australia, and then there are those (new and old) who LOVE the place!

I see no patriotism unless it's sport & beer. Real patriotism is dying with our war veterans or only seen after disasters. Be proud Aussies!

Generally no, only on days like ANZAC Day and Australia Day do we see any form of patriotism, we need to see it more widely spread.

I think as a whole most of us have a good grasp on being patriotic and not taking it to ridiculous extremes like the Americans do. There are still those who have come here and have a better life but never give thanks, only ever find fault.

Australia is beautiful country with an abundance of opportunities for it's people. My Grandmother's last request was to become an Australian Citizen. On Australia Day 2010 she became an "Aussie". Be Proud.
