No, if australia was so laid back do you think we would be so far up in our production and sales of products??

We're all becoming workaholics now, being martyrs for our careers. Women especially! We should have French work hours and have more fun!

This is why our service is a joke. It's relaxed and friendly but on the other hand attendants never check anything...sure no worries mate.

I really don't associate with the laid-back, beer drinking, sports watching 'norm' at all!

If we were truly 'laid back' would we be so anxious all the time about who we are, how we're perceived and whether it was the 'right' image?

No, this is a highly successful business nation AND we love our outdoors and activities...we know how to enjoy doing both at any pace.

We are laid back in the things we shouldn't be: we ignore marginalised groups and haven't pressured our politicians for a human rights act.

Laid back? we work hard and play hard, thats not laid back. But if you mean we are able to accept things as there are, then bring it on.

I'm pretty certain that I wouldn't be the only Australian reading this that has worked a 50+ hour week.

Well if Australians were too laid back then why, at the times of natural disastor do we all come together as one nation and help each other.

Australians are not 'too far laid back', if you were to meet an Australian doing a task he enjoys you will see the outstanding results.

No it is just a stereotype given by others. Most Australians work very hard and in our spare time its good to have fun

We have a very poor reputation for service. Too many Aussies think 'she'll be right mate' & let the workaholicss pick up the pieces.

Absolutely not. I have a lot of time for Australians, but I find many of them unnaturally ill-tempered.

So not too laid back, we are just about the right amount of laid back. However in general Aussies are getting more stressed these days, stressed and overworked so lets see how long we can keep the laid back attitude for.

Australians work the longest working week of any country in the world (just quoting what I read). We are hard workers but we also know how to relax, have fun with family and friends, and we know how to laugh at ourselves. Lets not become to serious

I think we are laid back as far as the our attitude towards life, but this is a great thing, this creates an environment of less stress and generally people get on better. So laid back it should stay :)

Absolutely not - the more laid back the better; as long as it comes with care, compassion and motivation.
