Aussie Vault says...

People often associate everything that's great about our country to sport and lifestyle - Does this sell Australia short? Does it trivialise our achievement?

Born Italian..heart Australian (1956). A melting pot of nations, we brought skills to a great country. Promote works, not sport - be proud!!

We live in the best country in the world and our lifestyle is fabulous. We have it all-great heroes from pioneers, sports people, medicos.

Yes Give more credit to our work ethic - Aussie farmers are the best in the world & we didn't acknowledge them or our beautiful land at all

We are not just a nation of sport crazy fools. We need to acknowledge and give credit to our scientists, farming industry, and the amazingly smart brilliant people that are using their brains to make this world a better place.

Sport and lifestyle, endlessly, yes, that view does trivialise Australia, and it is pervasive. Imagine if at the end of the news on radio or tv we got arts and science news instead of the lame comments about groin injury and tendons and training...

What is great about our country is our iconic animals (kangaroo, koala, wombat etc) which tourists flock to see but cannot find in the wild because we don't care enough to look after their habitat. DSE gives farmers free reign to shoot wildlife. Sad.
